    Description: Homeobox C6 (HOXC6) genes belong to the homeoprotein family of transcription factors, which play an important role in morphogenesis and cellular differentiation during embryonic development. The aim of this study was to explore the role of HOXC6 in the regulation of Bcl-2 in human head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The HOXC6 and Bcl-2 gene were identified as being overexpressed in HNSCC tissue and cell lines. Transfection assays demonstrated that HOXC6 increased the levels of Bcl-2 mRNA and protein. A luciferase reporter assay suggested that HOXC6 induced activity of the Bcl-2 promoter. A series of Bcl-2 promoter deletion mutants were examined and the minimal HOXC6-responsive region was identified to be in the TAAT motif (-420 bp) of the Bcl-2 promoter. Interestingly, the inhibition of HOXC6 using siRNA led to the repression of Bcl-2 expression and induced caspase-3-dependent apoptosis; overexpression of HOXC6 in HNSCC cells increased the resistance to paclitaxel-induced apoptosis....

    Description: 조선 후기의 천문학자 김영(金泳)이 편집하여 1792년에 관상감에서 출간한 신도(新圖) "보천가(步天歌)"는 조선 초기의 "보천가"에서 왕희명(王希明)의 가결을 가져오고, 성도와 주석은 페르디난드 페르비스트의 영향을 받았다고 알려져 있다. 본 논문에서는 1741년에 청(淸)에서 출간된 "협기변방서(協紀辨方書)"에 들어있는 "성도보천가(星圖步天歌)"의 내용과 신도 "보천가"의 내용을 서로 비교하였다. 또한 "협기변방서"의 조선 전래에 관한 역사적 상황을 정리하였다. 이러한 논의를 통해, 김영의 "보천가"는 1741년에 청에서 출간되어 1742년에 조선으로 수입된 "협기변방서"의 "성도보천가"에서 주석과 성도를 취하고, 조선 초기에 간행된 "보천가"에서 가결을 취하여 이룩된 것이라는 결론을 얻었다.

    Title: Origin of the Korean Screen Planisphere with both Old and New Star-charts

    Description: The origin of the Korean Screen Planisphere with both Traditional and New Star-Charts, made by Korean Astronomers in the Royal Astronomical Bureau of the Joseon Dynasty by adopting the knowledge of the European astronomy, is investigated by analyzing its inscriptions and star charts. The considerations on both the changes in notations or representations of names of asterisms and the naming taboos used in the Old-style planisphere imply that the star-chart is originated from either the Sukjong-Stele-Replica of Cheonsang-Yeolcha-Punyajido(天象列次分野之圖). The New style planisphere is just the reproduction of Huangdao-congxingtu (黃道總星圖), with the exception of the non-Chinese-traditional stars. The Huangdao-congxingtu was made in 1723 CE by Ignatius K$\ddot{o}$gler who was a Jesuit missionary and worked for the Bureau of Astronomy (欽天監) in the Qing Dyansty. I find that the star chart was imported in 1742 CE from the Qing by An Gukrin (安國麟) who was an astronomer in the Royal Astronomical Bureau of Joseon. The chart became model for the screen star-chart made in 1743 CE and now housed in Bopju temple. I found that the inscriptions are extracted from the sentences in both Xinzhi Lingtai Yixiangzhi (新製靈臺儀象志) and Qinding Yixiangkaocheng (欽定儀象考成). Korean historical records in either Daily Records of the Royal Secretariat of the Joseon Dynasty (承政院日記) or Annals of the Joseonn Dynasty (朝鮮王朝實錄) show that Xinzhi Lingtai-Yixiangzhi was imported from the Qing Dynasty in 1708 CE, and the Qinding Yixiangkaocheng was imported in 1766 CE. Thus, the Korean Screen Planisphere with both Old and New Star-charts was certainly made after 1766 CE.

    Title: Exclusive J /ψ photoproduction off protons in ultraperipheral p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02TeV

    Description: We present the first measurement at the LHC of exclusive J/ψ photoproduction off protons, in ultraperipheral proton-lead collisions at √sNN=5.02  TeV. Events are selected with a dimuon pair produced either in the rapidity interval, in the laboratory frame, 2.5y4 (p−Pb) or −3.6y−2.6 (Pb−p), and no other particles observed in the ALICE acceptance. The measured cross sections σ(γ+p→J/ψ+p) are 33.2±2.2(stat)±3.2(syst)±0.7(theor)  nb in p−Pb and 284±36(stat)+27−32(syst)±26(theor)  nb in Pb−p collisions. We measure this process up to about 700 GeV in the γp center of mass, which is a factor of two larger than the highest energy studied at HERA. The data are consistent with a power law dependence of the J/ψ photoproduction cross section in γp energies from about 20 to 700 GeV, or equivalently, from Bjorken x scaling variable between ∼2×10−2 and ∼2×10−5, thus indicating no significant change in the gluon density behavior of the proton between HERA and LHC energies....
