Description: Nuclear matter under extreme conditions of temperature and density can be investigated in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. The measurement of transverse momentum (pT) distributions and yields of identified particles is a fundamental step in understanding collective and thermal properties of the matter produced in such collisions. At intermediate transverse momentum, it allows for testing the “recombination models” where hadrons could be formed by the coalescence of quarks from a deconfined quark-gluon plasma (QGP). At higher transverse momenta, particle spectra allow one to investigate the mechanism of parton energy loss in the hot and dense hadronic medium. The measurement of spectra in pp collisions not only provides the baseline for the heavy-ion data but also allows for the tuning and optimization of QCD-inspired models. Description: In the first three years of LHC operation, ALICE has measured identified lightflavour hadrons in a wide transverse momentum range. The measurements have been performed for the three collision systems: pp at √s = 0.9, 2.76 and 7 TeV, p–Pb at √sNN = 5.02 TeV and Pb–Pb at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. The latest results on transverse momentum distributions, particle ratios and integrated production yields are reported.

The ALICE apparatus allows for the detection of these rarely produced particles over a wide momentum range thanks to its excellent vertexing, tracking and particle identification capabilities. The last is based on the specific energy loss in the Time Projection Chamber and the velocity measurement with the Time-Of-Flight detector. The Cherenkov technique, exploited by a small acceptance detector (HMPID), has also been used for the most central Pb–Pb collisions to identify (anti-)deuterons at intermediate transverse momentum. Results on the production of stable nuclei and anti-nuclei in pp, p–Pb and Pb–Pb collisions are presented. Hypernuclei production rates in Pb–Pb are also described, together with a measurement of the hypertriton lifetime. The results are compared with the predictions...

Description: This work addresses the problem of generating and then recommending an artworks sequence for a group of visitors within a museum. Differently from a recommender system for an e-commerce application, the problem, here, is trying to maximize the satisfaction of the proposed recommendations, while taking into account an items’ ordering that satisfies each group member during the sequence and the artworks locations in the museum. Moreover, since many visitors may not be able to visit every artwork, the recommender system should provide suggestions while satisfying temporal visit constraints. The problem formulation is discussed together with the characteristics of a feasible solution. An exact search algorithm from the literature is used to efficiently solve the problem and to define the prerequisites for the recommender system. Finally, we evaluate a prototype implementation with both an offline analysis and a pilot study in a simulated museum environment.
