Title: The development of high performance online tracker for High Level Trigger of Muon Spectrometer of ALICE
    Author: Das, Indranil
Subject: Physics - Instrumentation And Detectors ; High Energy Physics - Experiment
Description: The Muon Spectrometer (MS) of the ALICE experiment at LHC is equipped with a HLT (High Level Trigger), whose aim is to improve the accuracy of the trigger cuts delivered at the L0 stage. A computational challenge of real-time event reconstruction is satisfied to achieve this software trigger cut of the HLT. After the description of the online algorithms, the performance of the online tracker is compared with that of the offline tracker using the measured pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV. Title: Charmonium measurements at forward rapidity in Pb-Pb and p-Pb collisions with ALICE at LHC
    Author: Das Indranil
    Subject: Physics
Description: Heavy-quark resonances, produced in high-energy heavy-ion collisions, are important observables for the study of quantum chromodynamics at extreme energy densities. In this paper, the nuclear modification factor and elliptic flow of J/ψ measured in the rapidity range (2.5 y 4) of ALICE have been presented for Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. The recent ALICE results on the J/ψ nuclear modification factor in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV have also been discussed.

Title: Quarkonium production in pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions with ALICE at LHC
    Author: Das Indranil
    Subject: Physics
Description: The hadroproduction of heavy quarkonium states plays a key role to understand the properties of matter created in high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. In this paper, the nuclear modification factors for J/ѱ,ѱ (2S) and ϒ(1S) measured with ALICE at LHC energies are discussed.

Title: Assessment of arsenic toxicity in rice plants in areas of West Bengal
Author: Das, Indranil; Ghosh, Koushik; Das, D.K; Sanyal, S.K
Subject: Pot Culture ; Contaminant Symptoms ; Accumulation ; Translocation ; Field Experiment ; Rice Crop ; Engineering
Description: Pot culture experiments were conducted using graded doses of arsenic (As) in order to determine the toxicity symptoms in rice plants. The As accumulation by the plant parts generally followed the order: rootstemleafeconomic produce. Yield reduction of 80.8% was observed in treatment applying more than 60 mg kg -1 As. The arsenic toxicity symptoms in leaf and root were observed with treatment above 40 mg kg -1 As, while the symptoms were apparent in economic produce above 60 mg kg -1 . The phytotoxicity threshold levels were observed with yield reduction to 55.5% in tillering and 54.8% at harvesting. In field experiments of rice-green manure-rice cropping sequence, no toxicity symptoms developed but a greater extent of As accumulation in rice crops was observed. The application of green manure does not significantly reduce As accumulation in the plants....

Title: Retroperitoneal Anaplastic Neuroblastoma in a 3-Year-Old Female: A Rare Case Report
Author: Roy, Shravasti; Das, Indranil; Nandi, Ayandip; De, Soma
Subject: Case Report ; Neuroblastoma ; Retroperitoneal Space
Description: Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in childhood. In different classification of neuroblastomas, a subset of undifferentiated or poorly differentiated tumors with bizarre histological features has been mentioned. A 3-year-old girl presented with abdominal pain. Her haematological and biochemical parameters were normal except her urinary vanelylmandelic acid level was elevated five times the normal value (64.4 IU/ml). On computed tomographyscan, a retroperitoneal contrast-enhancing mass was visible around D12-D13 region (60×52×47mm). Sections of CT guided trucut biopsy revealed large cells with pleomorphic nuclei, abundant cytoplasm and occasional multinucleated giant cells. Immunohistochemistry showed the cells reactive for neuron specific enolase, chromogranin-A, synaptophysin, non-reactive for cytokeratin, desmin and glial fibrillary acid protein and Alk-1. A diagnosis of anaplastic neuroblastoma was made. The child is currently under chemotherapy and doing well.
